MANILA, Philippines – Budget airline Cebu Pacific Air will operate 4 flights weekly between Manila and Guam, starting March 15 next year.

This marks Cebu Pacific’s first US destination, making it the only low-cost carrier to fly directly between the Philippines and Guam.

Cebu Pacific said in a statement on Wednesday, November 25, that this allows Cebu Pacific to offer its trademark low fares to the a sizeable Filipino community in Guam, which comprises about 26% of the island’s population.

“Having Guam in our network sets us off on another expansion path across the Pacific. With the launch of Guam, we offer fares that are up to 83% lower than other airlines. Fares this low can only mean more tourists to both countries, more Filipinos visiting home, and more opportunities for everyone,” Cebu Pacific President and CEO Lance Gokongwei said in the statement.

Citing recent data, Cebu Pacific, said that the Manila-Guam route is relatively underserved compared to other destinations with smaller Filipino populations.

According to the Gokongwei-led carrier, there are approximately 5,900 weekly seats currently available between Manila and Guam.

Cebu Pacific’s entry into the market adds 1,440 weekly seats to the pool, boosting air traffic between the two countries.

The budget airline kicked off the Guam route announcement with P2,500 ($53.15) all-in seats, available until November 29, 2015, or until seats last. The travel period for this promo is from March 15, 2016, to November 30, 2016.

After the seat sale, Cebu Pacific’s all-in fares to Guam will start from P7,197 ($153) – around 40% lower compared to other airlines.

The airline’s Manila-Guam route will operate every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, and will utilize the airline’s new Airbus A320 fleet.

The Manila-Guam service will depart at 3:45 am and arrive in Guam at 10:15 am.

The Guam-Manila flight will depart Guam at 12:30 pm and arrive in Manila at 2:55 pm.

Cebu Pacific’s network now spans 64 destinations on 98 routes, including flights to Sydney, Doha, Beijing, Tokyo, Bali, and Dubai.

The airline’s 55-strong fleet is comprised of 8 Airbus A319, 33 Airbus A320, 6 Airbus A330, and 8 ATR 72-500 aircraft.
