  • Diesel – P1.45 per liter
  • Kerosene – P1.70 per liter

Meralco raises rates for September

The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) is raising power rates to P9.9365 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) in September, an increase of P0.3977 from a month ago.

For residential customers consuming an average of 200 kWh, this is equivalent to an increase of P78 in their electricity bill.

Meralco attributed the increase to higher fuel costs and the weak peso.

Fuel prices are going down on Tuesday, September 6:

  • Gasoline – P2.60 per liter
  • Diesel – P1.55 per liter
  • Kerosene – P1.60 per liter

Since the start of the year, gasoline prices have gone up by P19.55 per liter, diesel by P37.80, and kerosene by P33.20.

Meralco lowers rates anew

The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) is reducing its overall rate for the second straight month due to lower generation charges.

The overall rate went down by P0.2087 this August to P9.5458 per kilowatt hour from July’s P9.7545 per kWh. 

This is the estimated reduction according to consumption:

  • 200 kWh – P42
  • 300 kWh – P63
  • 400 kWh – P83
  • 500 kWh – P104

With the adjustment, Meralco has now reduced its overall rate by a total of P0.9154 per kWh over the past two months, while the net decrease is at P0.2315 per kWh since the start of 2022.
