NLEX Corporation says the 2% to 3% toll increase authorized by the Toll Regulatory Board is 'part of the approved periodic adjustments due in 2012 and 2014'

The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has authorized the NLEX Corporation to impose a 2% to 3% toll increase starting May 18.

NLEX said in a press statement on Saturday, May 15, that the toll adjustment is “part of the approved periodic adjustments due in 2012 and 2014.”

“TRB and NLEX agreed to implement the increase on a staggered basis to cushion the impact of the adjustments,” NLEX said.

The toll adjustment will take effect on 12:01 am on Tuesday, May 18.

This means an additional P2 for Class 1 vehicles in the open system, VAT included; and an additional P6 for Class 1 vehicles for the entire NLEX journey.

NLEX said that the open system, where a flat rate is charged per entry, includes Quezon City, Caloocan City, Valenzuela City, Malabon City, and Navotas City in Metro Manila; and Meycauayan City and Marilao in Bulacan.

The closed system is between Bocaue, Bulacan, and Mabalacat City, Pampanga.

NLEX said that for other vehicle classes, thel increase within the open system will mean an additional ₱3 for Class 2 (buses and small commercial trucks), and ₱4 for Class 3 (large trucks/trailers). – Rappler.com
