Pinoy acts impress ‘X Factor UK’ judges
Are any of these acts the next One Direction or Cher Lloyd?

MANILA, Philippines – The X Factor UK series 12 is on its 3rd week of auditions and 3 Filipino acts have already impressed the judges so far.

These acts have us excited, because many X Factor contestants have enjoyed success whether or not they won the competition. Some of the most popular artists include One Direction, Cher Lloyd, this season’s co-host Olly Murs, and Little Mix.

These Filipinos are moving on to the bootcamp round of the British talent competition, where the judges will decide whether or not they should move on to the next round.

Check out the Filipino acts on this season’s X Factor UK:

4th Power

The girl group 4th Power gave a powerful rendition of Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj’s “Bang Bang” during their audition, which impressed the judges, including the girls’ idol Simon Cowell. “In terms of first auditions, this is probably the best I’ve ever seen,” he said.

4th Power, composed of sisters Almira, Celena, Mylene and Irene, experienced some criticism for already being seasoned performers prior to auditioning for the show. They’ve performed on ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime as the Cercado/Gollayan Sisters and as MICA on the Korean talent competition Superstar K6.

The girls responded to the criticism on a British morning show, saying they’re still “chasing their dreams.” Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the show told The Mirror that “there are no rules preventing anyone who has appeared on other shows from applying for The X Factor.”

Neneth Lyons

Neneth, 37 brought the judges and the audience at her audition to their feet after her moving performance of Barbara Streisand’s “Somewhere.”

Being on stage isn’t new for the full-time housewife and mom who performed at bars in Hong Kong and China before she met her husband and moved to England. “She’s everything,” Neneth said about her two-year-old daughter Elizabeth in the short introduction before her performance.

Neneth cried after her performance, but was fairly composed as judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini said, “For you to be able to perform and deliver that song, with that power, and that beauty, it was spellbounding. That was a stunning performance.”

It was Rita Ora’s comment that brought tears back to Neneth’s eyes: “To tell you the truth, I think if your daughter could speak, she’s gonna say ‘That’s my mom on that stage!'”

Jenesa Gill

Jenesa walked confidently onstage for her audition, declaring her love for Simon. The Catherine Zeta Jones lookalike performed Shakira’s “Hips Don’t Lie” with an energy that had the audience dancing and clapping along.

The highlight of Jenesa’s performance though was when sat on Simon’s lap and kissed him full on the lips to the amusement of the other judges. Host Olly Murs could be heard backstage saying “It’s a family show!” after Jenesa’s stunt.

“I like your hips, I like your lips, I wasn’t crazy about the singing,” said Simon. Nonetheless, the 35-year-old care home assistant got the majority of yes votes from the judges, according to ABS-CBN.
