MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Doris Roberts, the star of the hit show Everybody Loves Raymond, has died on Sunday, April 17.

Her son Michael Cannata confirmed the news to People magazine, saying that she passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Los Angeles, USA. She was 90 years old. 

Doris is known for playing Marie Barone, Ray Barone’s (Ray Romano) mother, in Everybody Loves Raymond which ran from 1996 to 2005. 

Doris’ career has spanned 6 decades. She has received 5 Emmys – 4 of which was for her role as Marie – and a Screen Actors Guild award.

Raised by her single mother in the Bronx, Doris got her break on Broadway in the play The Time of Your Life in 1955. She moved to California to appear in ABC’s The Lily Tomlin Comedy Hour in 1975.

She appeared in 34 films over more than half a century, including 1961’s Something Wild, The Honeymoon Killers in 1969 and The Taking of Pelham One Two Three in 1974.
