FULL LIST: Winners, Tony Awards 2018

MANILA, Philippines – The Band’s Visit was the big winner at the Tony Awards on Sunday, June 10 (Monday, June 11, Manila time) In New York.

The musical won several of the top awards including Best Musical, Best Actor in a Musical for Tony Shalhoub and Best Actress in as Musical for Katrina Lenk. 

Best revival of a musical went to Once On This Island, Best Play went to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts One and Two, while Angels in America took home the Best Revival of a Play.

There was some emotional moments on the show as many of the winners spoke out about the importance of theatre in a time of hatred and division.

The students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School also performed “Seasons of Love,” from the musical Rent, to express their thanks after their teacher, Melody Herzfeld, was honored at the awards for her work. Herfled and her students survived the shooting Parkland, Florida.

Sarah Bareiles and Josh Groban hosted this year’s show.
