Eddie Garcia fell on set – without a medical team nearby

MANILA, Philippines — GMA Network said on Monday, June 10 that they are figuring out why no medical team was around during the taping of the show Rosang Agimat. During the shoot, veteran actor Eddie Garcia was injured and later rushed to the hospital.

In the statement, the network said that it has been the network’s practice of having a medical team on set of GMA shows, most especially in executing big action scenes.

“Given this, we are currently investigating the absence of a medical team on the set last Saturday, June 8.

“GMA Network is deeply saddened with what happened to Mr. Eddie Garcia and the management is committed to getting to the bottom of this unfortunate incident.”

The network earlier said that they are reviewing tapes from the June 8 taping and that they will wait for further advice from the family regarding the actor’s condition.

Garcia, who is currently confined at the Makati Medical Center, suffered a severe cervical fracture according to the latest statement from the family. He is still under observation.

Dr. Enrique Lagman, the uncle of Garcia’s longtime partner Lillibeth Romero, earlier said that test results showed no heart attack or stroke contrary to an earlier statement from GMA that said he suffered a heart attack. —Rappler.com
