Kris Aquino to go on temporary leave

MANILA, Philippines – Kris Aquino has been allowed a temporary leave starting June in order for her to fulfill personal obligations concerning the welfare of her sons, Joshua Aquino and James “Bimby” Yap Jr., ABS-CBN.com reports.

A statement released by the ABS-CBN management on Wednesday, April 17, stated:

“Matapos ang masusing pag-uusap, sumang-ayon si Kris na pansamantala munang mag-leave upang magkaroon muna siya ng panahon sa kanyang anak na si Bimby ngayong Hunyo habang ito’y nakabakasyon sa eskwela, at para madala na rin si Josh sa ibang bansa upang maisulong ang kanyang developmental progress.”

(After much deliberation, Kris has agreed to a temporary leave of absence in order to give more time for her son Bimby this June while he is on vacation from school and in order to further Josh’s developmental progress abroad.)

Aquino first announced her resignation from her shows in an interview in evening newscast “TV Patrol” in March; her love for her sons fueling her decision. The announcement came shortly after conflict between Aquino and her former partner James Yap was heightened and brought to the public eye.

The management reiterated:

“Pagkatapos ng kanyang leave, haharapin muli ni Kris ang mga responsibilidad niya sa ating mga Kapamilya na patuloy na tumatangkilik at sumusuporta sa kanya, at tutuparin ang kanyang mga contractual commitments sa ABS-CBN nang hindi naapektuhan ang kanyang tungkulin bilang isang ina.”  

(After her leave, Kris will again face her responsibilities to the Kapamilyas who continuously believe in her and support her and she will fulfill her contractual commitments with ABS-CBN without sacrificing her duties as a mother.)

“Nauunawaan ng ABS-CBN ang kagustuhan ni Kris na maging isang mabuting ina sa kanyang mga anak na sina Bimby at Josh. Ngunit sa kabilang banda ay [pinahahalagahan] din ng network si Kris bilang isang iconic talent at respetadong media personality sa bansa.”
