Rob Schneider arrives in Manila

MANILA, Philippines – Hollywood actor and comedian Rob Schneider arrived in Manila Sunday afternoon, October 27, for his a stand-up comedy show in Solaire Hotel and Casino in Parañaque City on October 28, 8 pm.

For one night only, Schneider, who is part Filipino, will perform his own brand of character and sketch comedy for the first time in the Philippines.

In an interview with The Philippine Star, his Filipina mother Pilar attributed her son’s talent in comedy partly to his Filipino lineage.

She told PhilStar that Schneider is fascinated with Philippine history and plans to create a screenplay based on it.

Schneider’s first visited the Philippines to promote his 1999 movie “Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo.”

According to a press release on TicketWorld, Schneider’s career as a stand-up comedian began in his teenage years, where he performed in small-town venues in the US. His appearance on “The David Letterman Show” in 1987 marked his major television network debut, after opening for comedians Jay Leno and jerry Seinfeld.

In 1990, he was discovered by Lorne Michaels and began his regular stint on “Saturday Night Live.”

The Emmy-nominated actor released a debut comedy album “Registered Offender” in 2010. The album features Schneider performing all voices in the 16 tracks of sketch comedy, reports i-Newswire.

The actor-comedian also appeared in blockbusters “Deuce Bigalow” and “The Hot Chick,” where his mother made a cameo.

He is also known for comedies alongside Adam Sandler including “Click,” “50 First Dates,” and “Grown Ups.”
