WATCH: Jimmy Fallon and Bill Gates drink ‘poop water’

MANILA, Philippines – It isn’t everyday that you see Bill Gates drinking sewage water on television – but he did, along with Jimmy Fallon.

It’s for a good cause though, when Bill Gates explained the reason behind the special water. His goal was to inexpensively take away the sewage from the sewage water they collected – through an Omniprocessor – and turn the separated water into potable water. This is envisioned as a start towards a solution to problematic systems in developing countries. 

“It’s way too expensive, the [filtration system] way the rich countries do it. Make something that we can put throughout Africa and get rid of all that sewage,” he said. 

Jimmy presented him with two glasses afterwards – one with bottled water and the other, what was previously sewage water – to which Bill added, “This is the ultimate taste test. We think you’ll be able to figure this out.”
