MANILA, Philippines – It’s the end of an era. The cast of Glee recently bid farewell to their fans via thank you messages and photos posted on social media.

Glee will end in March this year, after a 6-season run.

Lea Michele, who plays the lead Rachel Berry, posted two more photos with the cast members and the show’s thank you banner made by Paramount. A Glee carnival was put up for the show’s final taping.

She also tweeted a photo of the cast together.

Matthew Morrison channeled his character Will Schuester, McKinley High School’s well-loved teacher, in thanking the fans.

Darren Criss also thanked the fans, especially the supporters of Blaine and Kurt (Chris Colfer) – or their couple nickname, Klaine.

Kevin McHale and Amber Riley also shared photos of the farewell party inside Paramount studios.

“Thank you Paramount for letting me and my friends hang out here for the past 6 years. You can have 5 of your stages back now,” Kevin wrote.

“Best party ever! #gleegoodbye,” Amber wrote.

Becca Tobin  meanwhile posted this:

“We are saying goodbye to Glee today so I wanted to post a few of my favorite pics from over the years,” Becca captioned.

Glee premiered its final season January 9 in the United States.  In the final season, Rachel Berry returns to McKinley High School to help resurrect the Glee Club, after her TV career did not take off. In the latest episode of the show, couples Brittany (Heather Morris) and Santana ( Naya Rivera) Blaine (Darren Criss) and Kurt (Chris Colfer) had a double wedding celebration.

The show lost its male lead, Cory Monteith, who played Finn Hudson, Rachel Berry’s boyfriend, in 2013. Cory and Lea dated in real life, and were in a relationship at the time of Cory’s death.

In an interview with People, Darren and Kurt said they did not expect the amount of support for their tandem on the show.

“This is something that kind of grew legs of its own and it has now become not so much the relationship that our characters have on the show, but, like, this other creature …”  Darren said.

“It’s like the Kraken!”  Kurt added.

“It’s this monstrous thing that can do big things – but it’s also a little scary!” Darren said.
