Edu Manzano feels for friend Bong Revilla as son Jolo ‘deteriorates’
‘I’m sure that at the end of the day, things will work out,’ Edu says of the Revilla family’s latest ordeal
MANILA, Philippines – Actor Edu Manzano said that as a parent, he feels sad for his good friend Senator Bong Revilla, whose son Cavite Vice Governor Jolo Revilla, is recovering from a gunshot wound at the Asian Hospital in Muntinlupa City.

“This latest chapter in their lives is very, very sad. Ako, marami akong pagkukulang (I have many shortcomings) as a father but I try to be the best I can be. I’m sure he (Bong) is also suffering a lot, wanting to be there for his son as he recovers,” Edu told reporters during the press conference for his latest drama, Bridges of Love.

“I’m sure that at the end of the day, things will work out,” he added.

According to Edu, prior to the incident, he was able to visit Bong at his detention cell at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame.

Binisita ko siya (I visited him) the other day before etong latest nangyari (before this latest incident). I don’t think right now it’s the time na makialam (to meddle) and that they spend their time together as a family.”

“He was in good spirits, and I don’t know how he is now,” Edu said.

The actor said that the hours that Bong will spend with his son, as allowed by the anti-graft court Sandiganbayan, “will be very precious and it will have a great deal  impact and making Jolo recover very fast.”

The Sandiganbayan allowed Bong to visit his son on Tuesday, March 3, between 3pm-8pm. He filed a motion on Monday to  see Jolo, who was rushed to the hospital last Saturday, February 28, after he shot himself by accident while cleaning his gun in their home.

Bong is detained for graft and corruption charges in connection with the pork barrel scam. He was also in the news after it was reported he was seen visiting Senator Juan Ponce Enrile, who celebrated his birthday at the PNP General Hospital.

Lawyer Raymond Fortun told reporters on Tuesday that Jolo’s condition had “deteriorated” and that he is in “critical condition.” (READ: Jolo Revilla to Bong: ‘I’m sorry, Papa’)–
