One Direction arrives in Manila

MANILA, Philippines – The boys are finally here – sans Zayn Malik, sadly – but they have arrived.

One Direction members Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne arrived in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Saturday afternoon, March 21.

However, fans did not forget to tweet their messages of love for Zayn, who will not be joining the boys in the concert, after it was announced that he quit the tour and returned to the UK.

The boys will be performing at the Mall of Asia Open Concert Grounds on March 21 and 22, as part of their “On The Road Again” tour.

 

English boyband One Direction was formed on the 7th season of X Factor UK. The boys first auditioned as solo acts on the show, but failed to qualify for the Boys category. However, then-guest judge and Pussycat doll Nicole Scherzinger suggested that the boys band together, and they did, qualifying for the Groups category.

The group soon gained a lot of traction on the show, and finished in 3rd place.

Their first album Up All Night came out in September 2011, with hit single “What Makes You Beautiful.”

They have since released 3 more albums: Take Me Home, Midnight Memories, and most recently, Four, which debuted at number one on the Billboard hit chart. They are also the first group to enter at number one with their first 4 albums.
