Kris Aquino backs out of ‘mistress’ movie

MANILA, Philippines – Actress Kris Aquino has backed out of the “mistress” movie that would have been directed by Feng Shui 2 director Chito Roño.

In an interview with ABS-CBN, Kris said she had to turn down the role because of a clause in one of her endorsements.

“Star Cinema offered it to me and I was really excited to do it. But unfortunately, I have one contract with a multinational company, na buti nabasa ko (I was fortunate to read),” Kris said.

“Hindi namin na realize ni Boy (Abunda) na may clause there about portrayal of characters in movies, teleseryes and all, that would run contrary to the image you are projecting as a family woman, as a mother. It was a concession that the lawyers worked out in such a way, because that was the time nag-papaannul ako. So they have final say or at least I need their consent to do roles that will run contrary to Filipino values,” Kris added.

Kris also shared that she talked with Star Cinema’s head Malou Santos of Star Cinema and Direk Chito, but in the end decided to bow out of the movie.

Kris said she would have really wanted to do to the movie as it would serve as a reunion with some of dear friends she did not name. Although she did not say who she was talking about, it was reported the movie would have reunited her with actress Claudine Barretto, with whom she starred in Sukob.

A few months back, actress Gretchen Barretto was originally announced to star in the movie based on the the book Etiquette for Mistresses and What Wives Can Learn From Them. The book was written by Julie Yap Daza. – Rappler.com
