‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’ canceled after 15 seasons

MANILA, Philippines – Procedural crime drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation will end after a 15-season run, home network CBS announced on Wednesday, May 13.

The network also announced that the series will end with a two-hour series finale on September 27, that will see the return of original cast members William Petersen and Marg Helgenberger. Marg tweeted about it, too. See below:

William and Marg were part of the original cast since the show’s debut, but both left in 2013. William played Dr. Gil Grissom, and Marg played Catherine Williams, who were both supervisors on the show.

The procedural crime drama, set in Las Vegas, debuted in 2000, and rose to popularity through the characters’ ways of using technology to solve crimes. It eventually spawned spin-offs set in different cities in America like CSI: New York and CSI: Miami (that starred David Caruso). Both spin-offs have since been canceled. 

CSI’s most recent spin-off CSI: Cyber, which stars Oscar winner Patricia Arquette, will still be showing on CBS. But current CSI cast member Ted Danson, who plays Level III supervisor DB Russell, will move to Cyber after CSI ends.
