Chanyeol is the fifth EXO member to enlist

EXO member Chanyeol enlisted in the Korean military on Monday, March 29.

Chanyeol shared a photo of himself wearing member D.O’s watch on Instagram. He wrote in the caption, “Goodbye” with the hashtag “Kyungsoo’s [D.O’s real name] watch.”

According to a Soompi report, Chanyeol posted on EXO’s fan community site prior to his enlistment. “I’ll be back safely. Don’t worry about me,” he said.

The 28-year-old singer is set to enter a boot camp and undergo four weeks of basic military training before serving as an active duty soldier in the army for 18 months. SM Entertainment, Chanyeol’s agency, did not disclose details of his enlistment location.

Chanyeol is the fifth EXO member to enlist following Xiumin and D.O, who have already been discharged, and Suho and Chen, who are still completing their service.

In South Korea, able-bodied males from the ages of 18 to 28 are required to render almost 2 years of military service, with few exemptions, including athletes who have won in international competitions. – Rappler.com
