Is Catriona Gray eyeing an acting career too?

Following the release of “R.Y.F,” her own version of the song “Raise Your Flag,” Catriona Gray opened up about possibly pursuing a career in acting and music in an online press conference on Tuesday, June 1. 

“I’m definitely open to opportunities in acting. I just feel like I don’t have any experience whatsoever, but I would love to have been given an opportunity to make an action movie,” she said. 

Catriona added that she is not picky when it comes to possible co-actors in an acting project. “It’s a learning experience either way and that’s what I need as a newcomer in the field,” she added.

Asked if she’s willing to be paired with boyfriend Sam Milby, Catriona answered, “I would be open to it but we really enjoy keeping our relationship quite private. It’s not that we’re opposed to working together but it’s just different.” 

Even as she’s open to acting projects, Catriona said she’s definitely working on more music this year. “It’s been on my heart for the longest time. A lot of things have been changed around and it’s been a little difficult logistically but it’s been something in my heart,” she said. 

She added that an album is “definitely” in the works. “I’ve been working on it silently and I’m excited to release it soon for everyone to hear,” she promised. 

Catriona also shared her excitement about establishing herself as a musician and not just a beauty queen. “I have loved owning that identity and I still do in many facts but I really want to invite people in as an artist so they can know my stories as a person,” she said. 

“I would really love to show Catriona as an artist and an extension of me as a person. I really resonate being a storyteller through music,” Catriona said. 

In terms of music collaborations, Catriona shared that she’s hopes to work on a love song with Sam. She added that she’s a fan of both KZ Tandingan and Moira dela Torre. “I just really admire their artistry and how they carved out their sound,” she said. 

The 27-year-old beauty queen also reacted to breakout singer Olivia Rodrigo’s remark that she listens to Catriona’s music. “She’s so talented and she’s doing so well at such a young age. I was super fangirling, I was so shocked.” she said. 

“She’s obviously humble and it was super cool that she even mentioned my music. It was crazy. I would like to collaborate with her, that’s awesome,” Catriona added. 

Catriona is currently in Australia with her family but will go back to working on her music alongside and fulfilling her duties as an ambassador once she’s back in the Philippines. 

“It makes me feel like I can be fulfilled in the role that gives back to the community… I will continue in the role of service for the rest of the year,” she said. – Rappler.com
