Jo Koy to star in new show ‘Josep’

The upcoming comedy is about a nurse whose Filipino mother suddenly moves in with him

Filipino-American stand-up comedian Jo Koy is set to star in an upcoming comedy developed by ABC.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show will be called Josep, and will follow the life of a nurse who navigates dating, fatherhood, and living with his stubborn Filipino mother moving in with him.

Young Sheldon’s Steve Joe will serve as showrunner, working with executive producers Randall Park and Melvin Mar (Fresh Off the Boat), Michael Golamco (Grimm), and Jake Kasdan (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle).

Jo Koy himself posted about the news on Instagram, sharing a screenshot of The Hollywood Reporter article with the caption “Excited to show you all what we’re working on over at [ABC network],” and adding the hashtag #filipinofamily.

Jo Koy is known for his stand-up specials where he frequently makes mention of his roots, telling stories about his Filipino mother. He has done several comedy specials, including Jo Koy: Comin’ In Hot, and Jo Koy: In His Elements. He recently performed in Manila as part of his Just Kidding World Tour. – Rappler.com
