MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine entertainment industry on Monday, February 11, mourned the death of veteran actress and singer Armida Siguion-Reyna due to cancer. She was 88. 

Known for her work in theater, film, music, and television, Armida also served as chairperson of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) under former president Joseph Estrada.

Armida is best known for hosting the show Aawitan Kita and as a producer of her own film company Reyna Films, which she and son director Carlos Siguion-Reyna managed.

In honor of her memory, we take a look back at Armida’s most iconic performances, both in music and on the big screen.  

1. Inagaw Mo Ang Lahat sa Akin (1995)  – The movie, directed by her son Carlos saw Armida as the mother of Maricel Soriano and Snooky Serna.


2. Filipinas (2003) – In the movie directed by Joel Lamangan, she is matriarch Florencia Filipinas, whose children find themselves in difficult situations.


3. Una Kang Naging Akin (1991) – The movie is directed by Laurice Guillen and starred Sharon Cuneta, Gabby Concecpion, and Dawn Zulueta.


4. Bwakaw (2012) – Directed by Jun Lana and starring Eddie Garcia, the movie was one of Armida’s last big screen appearances.


5. “Aawitan Kita– It’s among the songs she’s best known for. It is also the title of her show, which ran for a number of years on television.


6. “Maalaala Mo Kaya” – She also covered the famous song for her album Aawitan Kita in 1994.


7. “Masaganang Kabukiran” – She also recorded her cover of the Mabuhay Singers original.


8. “Diyos Ang Nakakaalam – She recorded her version of the popular religious song composed by Manuel Villar Sr. and Leopoldo Silo for her album Aawitan Kita.
