MANILA, Philippines – Goodbye, Batman. Hello… Moses?
In the upcoming biblical epic directed by Ridley Scott, Christian Bale trades his trademark black leather getup for a more simple robe as he takes on the role of Moses, who butts heads with the pharaoh Ramses, played by Australian actor Joel Edgerton (Warrior).

The film follows the Exodus story of Moses as he gathers his courage and leads hundreds of thousands of slaves under the Pharaoh’s rule to freedom. Raised as brothers, Ramses and Moses clash continuously as the former will not let go of his workforce without a fight, and all is set for an epic face-off.
The star-studded cast will also feature Hollywood veterans Sigourney Weaver (Alien, also directed by Ridley Scott), Ben Kingsley (Iron Man 3), and John Turturro (Transformers series). Weaver will play Ramses’ mother, Queen Tuya, Kingsley as the scholar, Nun, and Turturro as Ramses’ father, Seti.
Exodus: Gods and Kings was filmed at Pinewood Studios in London, in addition to on-location shoots in Almeria, Spain and Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands.
The film promises to be a re-imagining of one of the greatest stories- in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Scott said, “I was knocked out by who he was and the basics of the story- it has to be one of the greatest adventures and spiritual experiences that could ever have been.”
Exodus: Gods and Kings will debut in local cinemas on December 5.
