‘The Love Affair’: Richard, Dawn, and Bea on filming intimate scenes for the movie

MANILA, Philippines – Fans of Bea Alonzo, Richard Gutierrez, and Dawn Zulueta are raring to see The Love Affair, which features the 3 stars in a conflict-ridden love triangle. 

The love scenes are part and parcel of the film’s concept and storyline, which the actors addressed in a recent press conference. Particularly, the uncut trailer for the film, released on Star Cinema’s YouTube channel, surprised everyone with a scene showing Richard Gomez aggressively grabbing Dawn Zulueta’s breast in anger. 

When asked if Dawn had any reservations about doing the scenes, she said she understood why these were important to the story and the characters. She pointed out that the viewers were only surprised when they saw Richard’s abrasive reaction because they did not know where his character was coming from. “As an actor, you usually take everything [into consideration], and you have to understand what it’s really about. I didn’t really need much convincing. Ako kasi, as long as I understand why it is needed, I’m comfortable with what I’m doing, and I believe in the scene.”

“What will be difficult to understand is if we’re doing a love scene. Pero galit kami, galit siya. May eksenang nangyayari,” she explained.

Richard did admit that he had been worried about how Dawn’s husband Anton Lagdameo would react.  

“Pinag-usapan talaga namin ni Direk kung paano gagawin [‘yung scene with] with Dawn. Tinanong ko rin si Dawn, kasi it’s [a] very sensitive [scene]. Sabi ko, ‘Alam ba ‘to ng asawa mo?’ But siyempre, its up to her to explain to her husband that we’re actors doing our scenes together. I guess napag-usapan nila yun.  

(The director and I talked about how we’ll do the scene with Dawn. I also asked her, since it’s a very sensitive scene. I asked if her husband knew about it. But it will be up to her to explain to her husband that we’re actors doing our scenes together. I guess they talked about it.)  

Meanwhile, Richard and Bea also shared several intimate moments in the film. Which as Bea pointed out, was necessary given that their characters, Vince (Richard) and Adie (Bea) had a relationship after Patricia (Dawn) cheated on her husband.  

“Meron talagang mga scenes na intimate kasi nagkaroon kami ng relasyon sa pelikula. May mga ganun pero ‘di naman kailangan magbase doon lang kasi maraming sanga yung pelikula,” she added. 

(There are really intimate scenes because we had a relationship in the movie, but the film has a lot more to offer than that.)  

The actress also praised Richard for being “very professional.”  She added that Richard did not make her feel nervous at all and he was the perfect gentleman the entire time. 

“Nahiya ako, sinarado ko yung mata ko,” Richard joked. (I got shy. I closed my eyes.)   

“It was a very gentle scene. They say ‘yung movie medyo mature so may mga eksena na ganun talaga.” (They say the movie is a bit mature, so there are scenes that are like that.)
