Cersei is pregnant (or so she says)
Just when we thought we’d see the Cersei’s vise-like grip on her brother/lover loosen, she reels him back in with news that she is carrying his child. Jaime reacts with shock and then love, while viewers were left trying to figure out Cersei’s schemes while picking their jaws up off the floor. After all, if the idea of an incest baby doesn’t shock you, nothing will.
Daenerys exterminates the Lannister army
For a brief time, the Lannister army seemed unstoppable. With the help of Euron Greyjoy’s fleet, they eliminated the Targaryen navy, and wiped out House Tyrell while seizing their wealth. But it only took one dragon to take the entire army down – and the battle scene was perhaps the most glorious – and expensive – in Game of Thrones history. What made this battle extra-stressful was the fact that several fan favorites were fighting on opposing sides. The battle ended on an especially taxing note, when Jaime attempts to kill Daenerys, Drogon fires at Jaime, Bronn pushes him into a lake, they sink, and Tyrion witnesses everything from afar. The quick sequence of events subjected viewers to a million emotions in the span of a minute.
Gendry returns
For the last three seasons, Gendry seemed to have disappeared from the face of the earth after Davos put him on a boat to nowhere to save him from being a human sacrifice. His unceremonial absence has left many fans feelng empty, and even birthed a Gendry rowing meme – which Davos so slyly references in the season 7 episode when Gendry finally reappears. When Viserion’s corpse crashes into the frozen lake – and Jon Snow & Co. neglect to fish him out and burn him, what happened next became pretty obvious. Still, the sight of Viserion’s eyes turning into a cold White Walker-blue left fans in a sweat as cold as a northern Winter. We can imagine how hard it’ll be to take an ice dragon down.
