
MANILA, Philippines – Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach returned to the Philippines on Thursday, December 8, as she leads the kick-off of the pageant’s activities in the country. (READ: Miss Universe pageant to kick off in PH with welcome party)
Jonas Gaffud, Pia’s mentor and one of the organizers behind the pageant scheduled for January, posted a photo of Pia’s arrival at the airport, where she was accompanied by her manager Esther Swan.
“The Queen has arrived. We were surprised with the welcome at the airport,” he wrote.
In an inteview aired on ABS-CBN, Pia said she’s looking forward to the pageant in Manila scheduled on January 30, where she is set to crown her successor.
“It is going to be special. Of course, it is in the Philippines,” she said.
The candidates who will be coming to the country to help in the promotions include Australia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, and USA. They are set to tour the Philippines during their visit.
Miss Universe Philippines Maxine Medina, the country’s representative to the pageant, is expected to join them in their tour.
Pia and the delegates are also expected to pay a courtesy call to President Rodrigo Duterte in Malacañang.
A welcome party will be held on Saturday, December 10. The pageant is scheduled to be held on January 30. – Rappler.com
