The Miss Universe Philippines organization released on Thursday, September 23, the official video for their National Costume Competition.
The seven-minute clip features the 28 candidates showcasing a variety of Maria Clara ternos for their respective national costumes. The candidates were divided into four groups – those hailing from National Capital Region, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, for their presentation.
BGYO’s “KULAY” served as the soundtrack for the video.
Out of the initial 100 delegates who joined this year’s pageant, 30 were selected as the official candidates who will compete live in the pageant. However, only 28 candidates remain in the competition, after Zambales’ representative Joanna Maria Rabe was diagnosed with dengue and Davao City’s Ybonne Ortega tested positive for COVID-19.
Following the national costume competition, the preliminary interviews segment will stream on Friday, September 24. The Preliminary Swimsuit and Evening Gown Competitions stream on Sunday, September 26.
The date for the coronation night has yet to be announced. It was initially set for Saturday, September 25.
Reigning queen Rabiya Mateo, who finished her pageant journey in the Top 21, is set to crown her successor. The winner will represent the country in the international pageant to be held in Israel in December. – Rappler.com
