Dreamscape confirms cancellation of ABS-CBN show ‘Burado’

The teleserye Burado, which was set to star Julia Montes and Nadine Lustre, will no longer push through due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Dreamscape Entertainment confirmed the news to ABS-CBN News on Monday, August 10. Dreamscape, which was set to produce the show, said that that filming would be “difficult to mount at this time.” 

Burado‘s cast was set to shoot in countries such as Thailand, Cambodia, and India.

The production team also noted that one of its stars, Thai actor Denkhun Ngamnet “cannot be flown in” due to the pandemic.

Aside from Julia, Nadine, and Denkhun, Zanjoe Marudo, and Paolo Avelino were attached to the project. The project was first announced in February.

Burado is the latest TV project canceled due to the pandemic. In June, it was announced that the LizQuen teleserye Make It with You would be cancelled, citing the continuing rise of COVID-19 cases in the country.

ABS-CBN signed off on May 5 following a cease and desist order by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) after its franchise expired on May 4.

The House committee on legislative franchises voted against the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN on July 10, forcing the network to retrench many of its 11,000 employees. – Rappler.com
