WATCH: Sabrina bargains with aunts in ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ first look
Here's a glimpse of the highly-anticipated Netflix series, which premieres on October 26

MANILA, Philippines – It’s not easy being a teenager. It’s especially tough when you’re a teenager who has to eventually pledge allegiance to the Dark Lord and, in the process, bid goodbye to your human life.

That’s precisely what Sabrina Spellman deals with in the upcoming Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. But what does the highly-anticipated series have to offer? (WATCH: Kiernan Shipka picks between light or dark in ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’)

Get a first look from a short snippet released by Netflix on Thursday evening, October 18.

In the clip, Sabrina talks to her aunts Hilda and Zelda Spellman in hopes of negotiating her “baptism” – or her deep dive into the full witch life. The teenager asks her aunts if she could postpone her baptism to set up a “women for women” club in school – a bid to protect her friends.

The conversation also delves into awkward territory because her aunts misinterpret how Sabrina “took things to the next level” with her boyfriend Harvey.

“He hasn’t defiled you, has he? Witch law forbids novitiates from being anything less than virginal,” asks Zelda.

“Not that it’s anyone’s business…but no,” Sabrina responds.

“Praise Satan,” Zelda and Hilda say.

Sabrina is played by 18-year-old Kiernan Shipka, while Hilda and Zelda are played by Lucy Davis and Miranda Otto, respectively. Chance Perdomo plays Ambrose, Sabrina’s cousin.

The 10-episode show premieres on October 26 and if the pilot (which was screened during a special Netflix event in Makati City) is any indication, it’s going to be a series that features witchcraft and the dark arts while remaining rooted in relevant issues: feminism, gender equality, and balancing autonomy and family. – Rappler.com
