MANILA, Philippines – La Union is holding its second Sillag Festival of Lights at the Poro Point Freeport Zone on March 9 to 10.
“Sillag” is an Ilocano word that means “moonbeam” or “illumination from the moon.”
The two-day event features light-inspired activities such as the Sunset Run for Hope, ceremonial lighting of Sillag Village, a pyromusical show and lantern fluvial parade.
With the historic Poro Point lighthouse as the focal point, the festival aims to promote La Union as North Luzon’s beacon for economic development and tourism.
The festival was launched by the Poro Point Management Corporation in partnership with the Bases Conversion and Development Authority, the local government of La Union, and Thunderbird Resorts and Casinos.
