Miss Olongapo Angelee delos Reyes is crowned Miss PH Earth 2013
MANILA, Philippines – Olongapo City’s Angelee delos Reyes of Olongapo City was crowned Miss Philippines Earth 2013 on Sunday, May 19.
Reyes will be representing the Philippines at this year’s Miss Earth pageant, one of the biggest beauty pageants in the world.
The holographic stage designs in SM MOA Arena seemed to glow especially bright for Angelee and the 4 other girls who were awarded titles that night.
- Miss Philippines Eco-tourism 2013 – Bernadette Mae Aguirre (Miss Santa Maria)
- Miss Philippines Earth Fire 2013 – Alma Cabasal (Miss Filipino Communities in USA)
- Miss Philippines Earth Water 2013 – Nancy Leonard (Miss Zamboanga)
- Miss Philippines Earth Air 2013 – Kimverlyn Suiza (Miss Nagcarlan)
Coronation night
The 5 winners were selected by a panel of judges from among 47 hopefuls. The pageant began with 48 contestants before Miss Muntinlupa Ferina Juny-Ann de Paz backed out of the competition.
All candidates showed off their beach bodies during the pageant’s swimwear event. The first 5 who made it into the top 10 were announced, while the next 5 were announced after the evening gown portion.
The top 10 were:
- Miss Nagcarlan – Kimverlyn Suiza
- Miss Misamis Occidental – Kristel Suizo
- Miss San Manuel – Lullete Jane Ramilo
- Miss Cabugao – Jannie Loudette Alipo-on
- Miss Zamboanga – Nancy Leonard
- Miss San Marcelino – Janine Asanion
- Miss Santa Maria – Bernadette Mae Aguirre
- Miss Olongapo – Angelee delos Reyes
- Miss Fil-USA – Alma Cabasal
- Miss Ipil – Athina Karla Chia
The top 10 contestants then went through a gruelling question-and-answer portion, where each candidate chose the name of the judge whose question each would answer.
Angelee’s answer stood out for being straightforward, brief yet meaningful.
To the question, “What criteria would you add to beauty pageants aside from beauty and intelligence?” Angelee replied that she would add the possession of a “genuine heart” that cares about the protection of the environment.
Crowned for Mother Nature
Even before coronation night, many pageant watchers followed Angelee’s progress throughout the competition. The 25-year-old marketing head is a veteran of beauty pageants, having already joined Binibining Pilipinas and two international pageants, according to Adventures of a Beauty Queen blogger Joyce Burton-Titular.
