MANILA, Philippines – When Interior Secretary Mar Roxas proposed regulating the sale of hammers and other tools in response to the “Martilyo Gang” robbery at SM North EDSA, netizens were incredulous.
Now, police forces in Metro Manila have also imposed a ban on wearing caps and sunglasses inside shopping malls, saying such accessories can aid criminals in concealing their identities. The “Martilyo Gang” members, for one, were suspected to have worn baseball caps during the robbery.
Netizens were also quick to react to this new rule. Here’s what they had to say:
Yung pagbabawal ng cap at sunglasses sa loob ng mall gives that "I'm back in high school" feeling. They forgot to ban the mobile phones.

There's still an advantage about the ban of wearing a cap in malls.
No more jeje. Ajejejejeje.
Bawal n magsuot ng cap s mall, taz bawal n din bumili ng martilyo ng wlang clearance, I won't be surprise if they will ban GOON-looking too.
My first thought after hearing of the mall cap-ban is kawawa naman yung mga panot na walang pambili ng toupee. baw.

Bigyan natin ng sense 'yung cap ban. Sa bagay, bakit ka nga naman mag cap sa loob ng mall? Umuulan? Umaaraw?

excuse me pero sensible naman yung cap ban sa malls ah. bakit ka magssumbrero sa mall? wala kang fashion sense if you wear that tbh

Cap ban? Duh, we all know the solution— more police visibility, yung hindi mga duwag ha.

I don't think na maganda idea ang pagba-ban ng cap. So ganun di ba sa shades? Wig? Or kahit anong headgear? Paano na ang freedom of fashion?

parang medyo stupid yung cap ban sa malls. i mean, some people wear caps in cold places to avoid getting sick or getting colds.

Cap & sunglasses ban is a testament to our ineffective, unthinking & reactionary law enforcement in the PHL
