Lugang Cafe is adding 9 new dishes to their menu

MANILA, Philippines – Lugang Cafe may have become a constant since it opened, but they’re shaking things up by adding new things to the menu this February.

The restaurant removed some of the less popular dishes to make room for these new seafood and vegetable entrees, perfect for sharing with your family and friends.

We dropped by Lugang’s SM Aura branch on Wednesday, February 17 to taste the new items:

Here’s a look at what we tried:

This dish was a favorite at our table – clams steamed into a soft egg custard, whose texture is reminiscent of Japanese chawanmushi (savory egg custard).

This row of shrimp in a light soy sauce would be great to have with rice and shared with friends.

Don’t let the name fool you – this chicken dish isn’t made of chicken legs and the meat is actually boneless. Still, the has a rich spicy flavor, perfectly complemented by the pickles that come with it.

One of Lugang’s specialties is their three cup chicken, made with one cup of soy sauce, a cup of sesame oil, and a cup of rice wine. From now on, they’re offering the same dish but cooked with seafood instead.

Their three cup squid is has all the flavor of the chicken version but with tender squid instead.

No Chinese meal is complete without rice, and Lugang has a new version of fried rice for you to try. The salted fish in this dish gives a subtle flavor, while the chicken balances it out.

Lugang’s beef belly in sour broth is like the Taiwanese version of sinigang. This rich, comforting beef broth comes with noodles, mushrooms, and veggies, and is perfect for a chilly day.
