MANILA, Philippines – ICYMI, Rihanna just launched her make-up line Fenty Beauty, showing celebrities how a make-up line is done.
There’s a lot to be excited about with Fenty Beauty: from the sleek packaging that is as functional as it is stylish, to the all-inclusive shades that look good on a wide range of skin tones.
The directive for Rihanna’s makeup line seems to be taken from her 2012 hit song where she repeatedly sings “shine bright like a diamond.” With highlighter, shimmer sticks, and yes, lip gloss, Fenty Beauty’s main objective seems to be to make women’s faces shine.
Fenty Beauty has been brewing for two years, with Rihanna being hands-on during the entire process. “I have a hundred percent involvement in this process. I had so much freedom in creating whatever products I wanted to make and whatever colors and shades I wanted to make them,” she said in a behind-the-scenes video.
“Now I’m making makeup that I dream of teenagers to wear…Women of all ages, all sizes, all skin tones, all religions, all cultures. I wanted women to feel included,” Rihanna said.
Here are the Fenty Beauty items that we wish we could get our hands on:
Pro Filt’r Foundation
Every morena will know the struggle of finding the right shade of foundation for her skin tone – even here in the Philippines, where tan skin is supposedly more common. With foundation coming in 40 different shades – and a good part of it covering tan and dark brown skin tones – Rihanna really cements her stand on all-inclusive beauty with this one.
Killawatt freestyle highlighter
There is no underestimating the power of a good highlighter. A simple swipe of the shimmery product can make a bare face pop. This considered, Fenty Beauty’s Killawatt highlighter comes in 6 different shades – from an attention-grabbing gold to a subtle peach-pink – to suit whatever highlighting need. The product comes in a cream-to-powder formula and also claims to be weightless AND longwear, which, if proven, makes it a highlighter holy grail.
Match Stix Matte Skinstick
A concealer, corrector, and contour stick all in one, the matte skinstick is perhaps the most value-filled product on Fenty Beauty’s opening lineup. Like the Killawatt highlighter, it comes in a cream-to-powder formula in 20 different shades – again, true to Rihanna’s all-inclusive beauty stand. Also, the packaging is magnetic, which makes them easier to find in your bag – especially if you buy a set of them altogether.
Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick
Like its matte counterpart, this is a shimmery multi-purpose product that can work as a highlighter, blush, bronzer, eyeshadow, or whatever else you can come up with. Shades vary from a light pearl-pink to a dark glittery unicorn-purple, so you can really get creative with this tool. On the Fenty Beauty website, you can even customize a match stix trio for yourself based on your skin tone, pairing two matte skinsticks with a shimmer skinstick to create your basic go-to makeup set.
The matte lip craze may officially be over, especially now that Rihanna has released a lip gloss in one rosy nude shade that promises to look good on everyone – “the unicorn of nudes,” as it is described on the website. It also promises to be non-drying, with a moisturizing shea butter formula that keeps lips from cracking.
At the moment, Fenty Beauty is available through its official website and in Sephora stores around the world. For Filipino makeup fiends who want to see if Rihanna’s makeup line lives up to the hype, Fenty Beauty is available on Sephora.ph. – Rappler.com
