For the 6th straight year, the Baguio Country Club opened its much-celebrated Christmas Village to the public on Friday, November 11.
This year’s Christmas Village has two themes: the latest craze, Pokemon, and a traditional Christmas. Its design was conceptualized by the club’s General Manager Anthony R. De Leon and Executive Assistant Manager Marylou B. Galiste and was brought to life with the assistance of the club’s employees.
The Christmas Village hopes to give those who cannot afford to travel abroad to at least feel a semblance of a “white Christmas” as experienced in other countries.
As in the past, the highly acclaimed Christmas Village located across the country club’s main gate will showcase recycled materials – used materials from the club’s daily operations – that have been turned into beautiful Christmas decorations.
Eighty percent of the materials used in the Christmas Village were recycled, ranging from old sewer pipes, golf balls, used room key cards, and plastic spoons and forks, to water and wine bottles. These were used to make posts, lamps, snowflakes, balls, and various decorations that were hand-crafted by the country club’s employees. Excess construction trimmings such as plywood and steel bars, and bark, twigs, and pine cones that fell from trees within the premises, were also used to build the various structures and Christmas trees.
Visiting the Baguio Country Club’s Christmas Village is always is a worthwhile experience for the young and old. The village features various characters from popular children’s books, and a Nativity re-enactment sets the village’s tone in the evenings, reminding everyone of a more Christ-centered celebration.
Meanwhile, the lights, artificial snow show, and Christmas carolers at the main stage never cease to amaze the crowd.
The highly anticipated BCC Christmas Village had a soft opening on October 29 and was inaugurated on November 11. It will run until January 8, 2017.
The village’s entrance fee is P100 for adults, P50 for children ages 4 to 12, and free of charge for children 3 years old and below.
Senior Citizen discount applies, while persons with disability can also visit free of charge.
For a more enjoyable experience and to avoid any inconvenience, visitors are advised to comply with the dress code policy of BCC. Any type of slippers, regardless of brand or price, are strictly not allowed, as well as bringing in of pets, food, and drinks. – Rappler.com
