MANILA, Philippines – A traffic enforcer is not going to let name-dropping get in the way of doing his job.
The unidentified enforcer was caught on a video posted by Lenard Bernardo.
The video showed the enforcer stopping a vehicle near the border of Pasig City and the municipality of Cainta. The enforcer told the motorist he was loading passengers in an area that was not a loading and unloading zone.//

Colorum vehicles are operating illegally. They are either private vehicles without authorization from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), or are vehicles operating outside their assigned area.
Despite the enforcer repeatedly asking the driver for his license, the driver was not relenting. Instead, the driver started claiming he is connected with the office of Senator JV Ejercito.
However, the enforcer was having none of it and insisted to see the driver’s license. While issuing the ticket, the driver began offering to pay the enforcer instead. The enforcer continued to issue the ticket.
In a Facebook post, Ejercito denied having any association with the driver.

What to do
According to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), traffic enforcers should observe the following protocol for apprehending violators.
- Greet the driver with respect and identify yourself
- Inform the driver of his violation
- State their authority
- Respectfully ask for his driver’s license
- Inform the driver not to alight from the vehicle
- State the availability of the TAB for lodging a complaint within 5 days or the Roadside Traffic Arbitration during apprehension (on site)
Most Facebook users praised the traffic enforcer in the viral video for doing his job well.
“Ayan dapat tularan ng ibang blue (He should serve as an example to other enforcers)!” Nicky Cruz commented.
“Good job! Ikaw yung taong dapat inaangat sa position mo,” Miller Gabriel Manlolo said.
(Good job! You should be promoted.)
As of posting, the video has been viewed 327,000 times and shared by about 6,000 Facebook users. – Bea Orante/Rappler.com
