MANILA, Philippines – How much do facts matter to the Filipino netizen?

They are clearly top priority, going by the responses to Rappler’s callout during the public forum “Truth, Trust, and Democracy in the Age of Selfies, Trolls and Bots.”

Rappler asked both netizens and the participants at the forum on Tuesday, November 28, in Makat City, to tweet their thoughts and observations using the hashtag #FactsMatterPH.

The hashtag trended nationally on Twitter a few hours into the event:

According to Twitter analytics tool Tweetreach, the hashtag was used 3,536 times from November 27 to 30, and achieved 591.8 million potential impressions during this same period. An impression is a measure of how many times a tweet has appeared on a user’s stream.

The hashtag with the second highest number of potential impressions during this period, #trndnl, only earned 4 million potential impressions.

Sentiments were also varied when it came to the hashtag. 34% were positive, 40.4% were negative, and 25.6% were neutral.

So what were the concerns voiced in these tweets? Quite a lot:
