MANILA, Philippines – Cyber security breaches are happening more frequently these days that they’re slowly becoming a common thing.
In fact, just last week, Philippine Rice Research’s Facebook page was hacked. Their feed was filled with videos unrelated to them. Their cover photo was replaced with Pikachu, a fictional character from the Pokemon video game series.
It’s not just us. In our neighboring country, India, government websites have also been attacked. It was reported that in 2016, government sites were hacked every other day.
While technology can be scary, it’s also important to remember all the good it has done to improve our lives: how it has enabled us to discover our communities, showcase our talents, pursue our passions, help those who are in need, voice our opinions, and even create movements that spark change.
