Davao City rep heads appropriations committee

Davao City 3rd district representative Isidro Ungab is the new chairperson of the House Appropriations committee


MANILA, Philippines – Davao City 3rd district representative Isidro Ungab was appointed the new chairperson of the House Appropriations Committee of the 16th Congress on Tuesday, July 22.  

He replaces former Negros Oriental Representative Jocelyn Limkaichong.

Ungab is a member of the administration Liberal Party (LP)

As chair, he heads one of the most powerful committees in the House. He is expected to oversee the entire budgeting process as it passes through the lower house.  

The Davao representative won the position over a number of congressmen, including Western Samar Representative Mel Sarmiento and Quirino Representative Dakila “Dax” Cua.

Ungab formerly headed the Committee on Ways and Means, also another powerful committee in the House, which exercises oversight over the government’s finances.  As chair, he lead the passage of the Sin Tax law.

Ungab is on his third and final term as a member of Congress. –
