MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Aug 26, 2013 is National Heroes’ Day. On this day, we celebrate our heroes — from Jose Rizal and Andres Bonifacio who gave their lives fighting for independence, to our “modern-day heroes,” the OFWs who sacrifice for their families back home. It’s a day of public recognition for service to the nation.
Away from the spotlight, there are real-life heroes: the volunteers, Good Samaritans and public servants who serve their communities with passion and loyalty. And they do it 24/7.
Why do they do it? Because their values and morals are clear. Despite an endemically corrupt environment, they stand strong and choose to do what’s right. Even when no one is looking.
They are our Tapat Heroes: people with the courage to buck the tide and the strength of will to stay focused on doing what’s right.
They spread ripples of hope that change can start with one.
Their stories are inspirational.
Read and watch our Tapat Heroes series, in cooperation with Champion.
But there are more heroes out there — and they may have touched your life.
Take a moment and think. Who are your Tapat heroes? Why?
Tell us who they are!
Email firstname.lastname@example.org or tweet @MovePH and use the hashtag #TapatAko and share why that person inspires you.
We will accept all nominations with the #TapatAko hashtag from August 3 to 20.
From this pool, 9 of the most passionate stories will be chosen to qualify for an online poll from August 17 to 26. The Top 3 to receive the most votes will appear in a Move.PH special feature for National Heroes Day. – Rappler.com
