MANILA, Philippines – A massive earthquake hits large parts of Nepal and triggered an avalanche that hit the base camp of Everest on Saturday, April 26, killing thousands and leaving thousands homeless – they now need help.

At least 2000 are reported dead, according to officials, earning the 7.8 magnitude quake the worst natural disaster that hit the nation in more than 80 years.

However, the death toll could get higher as retrieval operations are underway.

Meanwhile, thousands have been displaced due to the quake. Survivors have been reported to sleep on the streets and stayed in open spaces in fear of aftershocks following a 6.7 magnitude aftershock

Several netizens have expressed their support online, calling for others to pray for Nepal’s quick recovery. (READ: #PrayForNepal: Netizens express support for quake victims)
