Duterte reveals appointees to LTO, PMS, PCOO posts
His longtime aide is slated to head the Presidential Management Staff. A TV news anchor, Martin Andanar, will head the Presidential Communications Operations Office.

DAVAO CITY, Philippines (UPDATED) – President-elect Rodrigo Duterte revealed a new batch of appointees to his Cabinet on Thursday, June 2.

His longtime executive assistant, Christopher “Bong” Go, will become the “Special Assistant to the President under the Office of the President, said Duterte during a press conference on Thursday night.

Go’s position gives him “general supervision over the Office of the Presidential Management Staff,” said Duterte.

Disaster risk expert Ed del Rosario, meanwhile, will become the Undersecretary for Civil, Veterans, and Retirees Affairs under the Department of National Defense. 

Del Rosario used to be executive director of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

Former police general Ed Galvante will head the Land Transportation Office, one of the most corrupt agencies in government, according to police data. Duterte praised him for being “one of the strictest in the police.”

Galvante used to be PNP Deputy Chief for Operations.

High-profile lawyer Salvador Panelo will remain as Duterte’s spokesman. In a previous press conference, Duterte said he was only serving in a temporary capacity.

Joel Maglunsod, a leader in the progressive labor group Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU), will become an Undersecretary in the Department of Labor and Employment.

Maglunsod is yet another Left-leaning personality Duterte has appointed to a government post. – Rappler.com
