MANILA, Philippines – The House committee on justice conducts a hearing Thursday, October 5, on the impeachment complaints filed against Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Andres Bautista and Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.
The first hearing on the impeachment complaints filed against Sereno was held September 13, where the first complaint was deemed sufficient in form and substance. The committee voted 28-5 to dismiss the motion to declare the second complaint sufficient in form.
On September 20, the House justice committee junked a verified impeachment complaint against Comelec’s Bautista after finding it insufficient in form.
On Thursday, at 9:30 am, the House justice committee will report on the impeachment complaint against Bautista, and will also determine the sufficiency of the grounds cited in the verified complaint against Sereno. – Rappler.com
