On Father’s Day, Sara Duterte thanks dad ‘for the rigidity’

MANILA, Philippines – For Father’s Day, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio took the chance to thank President Rodrigo Duterte for raising her to be the kind of person she is today.

In her Father’s Day message on Saturday, June 16, Duterte-Carpio remembered how the President was “hard on me about education and work.”

“You impressed upon me that I am not a person if I am not a lawyer or a doctor and if I do not work for our country. And I am grateful for the rigidity,” she said.

Duterte-Carpio said she has her father’s “twisted sense of humor” and “the drive to achieve” – her “useful tools” to navigate through life.

“I would not be where I am now if I did not have you as a father and my Mama…. Thank you. Happy Father’s Day!” she added.

Duterte-Carpio is said to be the President’s favorite child. In fact, according to sources, Duterte is often scared of his eldest daughter. (READ: The Dutertes: A family in the national spotlight)

Just recently, Duterte-Carpio said she would join her father’s foreign visits to make sure he does not get involved in another kissing controversy.
