Novaliches Bishop-elect Roberto Gaa is set to replace Antonio Tobias, who is past the retirement age of 75

MANILA, Philippines – Pope Francis named Father Roberto Gaa as the new bishop of Novaliches, the Vatican announced on Thursday evening, June 6.

Gaa is set to replace Antonio Tobias as Novaliches bishop. He will be the 3rd bishop of the Diocese of Novaliches, following Tobias and Teodoro Bacani.

The diocese of Novaliches covers the northern parts of Quezon City and Caloocan City. (Other parts of Quezon City and Caloocan belong to other dioceses, such as the Diocese of Cubao headed by Bishop Honesto Ongtioco and the Diocese of Caloocan headed by Bishop Pablo Virgilio David.)

Born in 1962, Gaa was most recently rector of the Holy Apostles Senior Seminary in Makati City. He has been a priest since 2000.
