MAKATI CITY, Philippines – 40 houses were destroyed in a fire that ravaged Batute Street of Barangay Tejeros in Makati city on Sunday, July 7, 2013.

A resident of a nearby condominium said that fire and smoke was seen at around 9:30pm from Barangay Tejeros. Fire trucks started arriving in the area thirty minutes after.

According to the Makati Traffic twitter account,  the fifth level alarm was raised at 9:55pm.

As of 10:27pm, however, the same account reported that the fire was already under control.  The Makati Public Safety Department (MPSD) also said that at 11:00pm, operatives already declared a fire-out.

MPSD maintained that as of 11:30pm there are no reported casualties in the incident. The cause of the fire has also not yet been determined.
