MANILA, Philippines (2nd UPDATE) – A magnitude 5.2 earthquake shook parts of central and southern Mindanao Monday morning, July 15.

The quake, which hit at 9:28 am, was centered 7 kilometers northeast of Carmen, North Cotabato (07.21°N, 124.86), with a depth of focus at just 4 km, state seismological bureau Phivolcs said in its initial bulletin.

Intensity V was felt in Carmen; Intensity IV was felt in Kabacan and Matalam, North Cotabato; Intensity III in Tagum City; and Intensity II was felt in Kidapawan and Koronadal cities, the bureau said.

The quake was of tectonic origin, and aftershocks are expected. No damage to property is also expected.
