MANILA, Philippines – An employee of the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) kidnapped last June was released in Jolo, Sulu on Wednesday, July 31.
Initial reports said Alrashid Maha Roxas, 56, a staff member of the WMSU’s College of Islamic Studies, was released in downtown Jolo by his abductors.
An undetermined ransom was reportedly paid by the family.
Roxas was abducted on June 22, just outside his house on Amping Drive, Barangay Campo Islam, Zamboanga City.
The suspects are believed to be part of a kidnap-for-ransom group linked to the Abu Sayyaf. – Rappler.com
