MANILA, Philippines – After lifting the number coding scheme last Friday afternoon, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said on Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, that the number coding takes effect today, the first working day after Christmas.
In a post on its Twitter account Sunday night, the MMDA clarified the number coding scheme is to be implemented for the day.
“Advisory: Number Coding is implemented (Dec. 26),” it said. The MMDA’s tweet was in response to queries from netizens on whether the number coding would be in effect on Monday.
Monday is not a holiday.
“Yes there’s number coding,” the MMDA replied to repeated tweets from netizens.
Under the number coding scheme, vehicles with plate numbers ending in 1 and 2 are barred from Metro Manila’s main thoroughfares from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Last Friday, the MMDA said the number coding would remain in effect, but eventually lifted it at 1 p.m. – Rappler.com
