RORO bus firms to stop trips when storm signals raised

MANILA, Philippines – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has ordered provincial bus operators with roll-on, roll-off (RORO) routes to cancel their trips once storm signal number 1 is raised over their routes.

The LTFRB issued the order on Thursday, April 2, after Typhoon Chedeng (international name Maysak) entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Based on the latest update from state weather bureau Pagasa, Chedeng is expected to make landfall over the eastern coast of Aurora or Isabela by late Saturday evening to early Sunday.

The typhon has slowed down, but is expected to maintain its strength.

LTFRB said the suspension of trips in the storm’s path will be in effect until storm warning signals are lifted and operations are allowed by the Philippine Coast Guard.
