MANILA, Philippines – A Nigerian and a model involved in the sale of gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB), known as liquid ecstasy, were charged before the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Thursday, April 16.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) filed charges against model Mica Anatacio and her Nigerian friend Balogun Ashimiyu for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
They were brought before the office of Assistant State Prosecutor Mark Estepa around 6 pm for inquest proceedings.
The two were arrested in a drug raid in Mandaluyong City Tuesday night, April 14.
Anatacio is the partner of Filipino-American Dennis Thikey, the subject of the NBI’s raid.
Thikey’s fellow Americans, Sean Eugene Blanchard, Alenie Aprid Matute, and Aaron Doe, eluded arrest.
NBI anti-illegal drugs chief Joel Tovera said GHB is considered a date rape drug, with women in clubs and bars ending up as the most common victims.
GHB, a depressant used as an intoxicant, is also known by the names “G,” “Liquid X,” “Liquid E,” “Georgia Home Boy,” “Juice,” “Mils,” “Liquid G,” and “Fantasy.”
Tovera said 100 milliliters of the drug fetches a price tag of P10,000 in the market, with its components imported from Poland. – Rappler.com
