GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Philippines – The suspect in the slaying of a police officer assigned as a bodyguard of Sarangani Rep Manny Pacquiao has surrendered.

Earn Guindolman is now heading back to General Santos after fleeing to nearby Surigao del Norte, the General Santos City station of Bombo Radyo reported early Wednesday morning, October 10.

Guindolman is now being accompanied by Pacquiao’s brother, Roel Pacquiao to whom Guindolman surrendered, Senior Police Officer 2 Rex Diongon and Bombo Gensan manager Janjan Macailing.

Guindolman is the principal suspect in the slaying of Pacquiao’s bodygaurd, SPO3 Rey Edradan who was stabbed to death Sunday evening, October 7, inside the house of one Rowena Cabaniog.

The victim reportedly barged into the house of Cabaniog, a live-in partner of Guindolman, and started beating her.

Guindolman was also inside the house of Cabaniog at the time, and said Edradan also hit him.

At this point, Guindolman reportedly defended himself by stabbing the victim.

Love triangle

Cabaniog is reportedly a former girlfriend of Edradan.

It was not clear why Edradan, who is already married, went to the house of Cabaniog Sunday evening.

Edradan sustained at least 12 stab wounds and his throat was slit open.

Reports said Guindolman surrendered to a police relative assigned in Surigao. He brought with him Cabaniog and her two children.

The mother of the suspect reportedly feared for his life and so Guindolman decided to surrender himself to his police relative.

He immediately sent surrender feelers after Rep Pacquiao appealed to police authorities to immediately arrest him.

The 27-year old Guindolman is a village watchman (tanod) of Barangay Apopong of which Roel Pacquiao is village chair.

Roel Pacquiao is running for congressman representing the first district of South Cotabato and General Santos next year.

Edradan, 40 years old, has been assigned to Rep. Pacquiao as police escort after the eight-division world boxing champion became a member of the House of Representative. – Rappler.com
