The Philippine Basketball Association opened up its 40th season at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan with fireworks, muses and a tribute to Gilas Pilipinas
BULACAN, Philippines – The 40th season of the Philippine Basketball Association officially opened on Sunday, October 19, at the brand-new Philippine Arena.

Each of the league’s 12 teams – including the two new expansion franchises KIA and Blackwater – was introduced to the crowd along with their special muses ranging from celebrities to volleyball stars to wives of famous boxers.

PBA Commissioner Chito Salud also gave a speech, as well as PBA Chairman Pato Gregorio.

The first game of the afternoon featured the Sorentos and the Elite, with 8-division boxing champion and KIA guard Manny Pacquiao being the highlight of the match.

The second game was between crowd favorites Barangay Ginebra and Talk ‘N Text.
